NAPHL Partners with NPU and Merges with the NPUHL

As the hockey season for the 2022-2023 comes to an end, we have some exciting news to share for next season. As prep hockey continues to grow in Canada, the North American Prep Hockey League (NAPHL) will be one the sole providers for prep hockey in Eastern Canada (Toronto to Newfoundland). The NAPHL has partnered with Northern Pre-University (NPU), academic provider for many existing teams in the league and new programs starting up in Canada and the USA.
President of the NAPHL, Anthony Miele who has operated prep hockey showcase leagues for 15 years in Canada says, ‘’I am excited to combine hockey and academics with a great educational system for student athletes. Additionally, I am excited to grow the game especially at the u14, u16, u18 levels”. Both organizations have moved so many hockey players on to the next level boasting a growing alumni list. The NAPHL will be reaching out to all prep schools to form the best prep league in North America.
NPU Head of school, Scott McLeod, has been involved in academics and sports for over 20 years helping student-athletes reach their athletic and academic goals by providing a quality education and flexible learning environments. While the partnership will focus on hockey, NPU is designed for everyone, especially athletes with scholarship aspirations. The unique school learning model also provides groups, teams, and schools virtual or blended learning models that could be brought to their facilities. All graduating students receive an accredited High School Diploma which is globally accepted. McLeod echoes Miele’s vision to unite prep school hockey and provide a forum where recruiters will have the opportunity to scout players in a competitive environment.
In addition, with this partnership The NAPHL and NPU will be leveraging contacts in junior hockey, CIS (U Sports), and the NCAA to help players move on to the next level.

The NAPHL will host a series of Showcase Weekends that will lead up to a National Championship in March 2023. The league will have stats, standing, league leaders and live streamed/televised games.
